Windows 8 on ARM: Nokia Tablet possible?

New report suggests fewer ARM-based Windows 8 devices, Nokia’s Tablet could be included?

We might see a Nokia Tablet running Windows 8 and ARM “inside”, based on Nokia’s Windows Phones, as well as the statement issued by Nokia’s Marko Ahtisaari, but a new report is suggesting that the Windows 8 launch this year will introduce “fewer than 5? devices.

According to Bloomberg’s anonymous sources, this year’s much-anticipated Windows 8 launch will introduce more than 40 Intel-based tablets and laptops, but fewer than five will join the family. This is not a “big deal” for an average customer, but for developers, it is.

One of the sources of the news site said the numbers are related to Microsoft’s “rigorous quality-control standards,” adding that at least three of the possible five ARM-based devices are tablet computers, or devices that will directly compete against Apple’s popular iPads including the new iPad or the “iPad 3.”

New Windows 8 tablets are expected to hit the market in October, a month ahead of the Black Friday season.

Last week, multiple reports quoting a local Finland-based magazine said that Nokia is currently working on its tablet PC.
