Ahead of the iPad 3 release this week, a new iPad rumor emerges courtesy of Korean news site, Korea Times.
The new report is suggesting that Apple will launch a new iPad this year aside from the new iPad 3, and it will ship with a smaller 7.85-inch screen. Sounds familiar? Well apparently, this rumor is the same-old rumor that appeared last year claiming that Apple will join the “cheap” tablet PC market dominated by Android tablets specifically the Amazon Kindle Fire.
Putting a smaller screen means cheaper cost, so it looks like the so-called “iPad Mini” is the device that will sit between the iPhone and the iPad category.
According to the report, Samsung is expecting to add additional revenue stream courtesy of Apple’s new 7.85-inch screen and also the new MacBook Air 2012 with its SSD card.
The report revealed:
The contract is expected to rise to $11 billion by the end of this year as Apple is planning to release a smaller iPad, probably with a 7.85-inch screen, and to sell more of its MacBook Air PCs using Samsung’s faster solid state drive (SSD) storage.
One analyst believe that Apple’s smaller iPad will still use a more expensive tag price than its rival, like the $199 Kindle Fire, largely due to Apple’s “premium” way of selling devices.
Apple will start selling its new iPad this month, the iPad 3 or the so-called “New iPad.” The new tablet PC is the first Apple product that will support Long-Term Evolution and also the first iPad with Retina screen. According to Apple, the iPad 3 is the fastest iPad yet courtesy of the new dual-core A5X chip with quad-core graphics.
The iPad 3 or new iPad still uses the same tag prices, $499 for the WiFi-only model which is the “entry-level” iPad, while the most expensive is the 64GB 4G LTE+WiFi sporting the tag price of $829 plus monthly charges for the LTE data plan (applicable in United States, Canada and other countries).
